The Tesoro de la lengua castellana o española (Thesaurus of Castilian or Spanish Language) is a dictionary of the Spanish language, written by Sebastián de Covarrubias in 1611. It was the first monolingual dictionary of the Castilian (Spanish) language, [clarification needed ; see Talk page] with its lexicon defined in Spanish.
The electronic version of the dictionary was launched formally by the King and Queen of Spain in 2018, [1] although some material had been available online previously. Carmen Iglesias, who became director of the Real Academia de la Historia in 2014, was the historian responsible for the electronic version, which differs in some respects from the printed version which preceded it.
