From 1958 to 2010 the school was located on the south side of Morven Road in Bearsden. The old Morven Road site was redeveloped as a new housing estate, comprising detached and flatted dwellings known as Academy Grove in 2009–12. Norman McLeod was a rector at the school and one of the streets in Academy Grove is named in his honour. [6]

Bearsden (/ ˌ b ɛər z ˈ d ɛ n / ⓘ) is a town in East Dunbartonshire, Scotland, on the northwestern fringe of Greater Glasgow, approximately six miles (ten kilometres) from the city centre. The Roman Antonine Wall runs through the town, and the remains of a military bath house can be seen near the town centre.
McKinnon was born in Glasgow to working class parents; his father was a lollipop man and his mother worked at a care home. He originally attended Bearsden Academy from 1974 to 1980, [3] then went on to study medicine at University of Glasgow. He left after failing exams due to an illness. [4]

Scotus College was a seminary in Bearsden, Glasgow. It was founded in 1985 under the name of Chesters College and in 1993 was reconstituted as Scotus College. It was then the only remaining Roman Catholic seminary in Scotland. Its closure was announced in April 2009. [1]
