As early as 1858, a library was founded in the Mechanic's Institute, serving 50 people in what was then classified as Brampton. These 360 volumes, plus a federal grant of $160, were the starting blocks for the first actual public library in Brampton, founded in 1887 in the Golding Building on Queen Street.
The Downtown Terminal is a Brampton Transit bus station serving the central area of Brampton, Ontario, Canada. It is located a block north of the intersection of Main Street and Queen Street, the two main streets in downtown. There is direct access to Via Rail and GO Transit trains at the adjoining Brampton GO Station.

The spot was formerly a city owned parking lot for the Brampton Civic Centre, the location of the Chinguacousy branch of the Brampton Library. The new terminal opened in conjunction with the commencement of Züm bus rapid transit service along Queen Street.
