Kentaro Miura (Japanese: 三浦 建太郎, Hepburn: Miura Kentarō, July 11, 1966 – May 6, 2021) was a Japanese manga artist.He was best known for his dark fantasy series Berserk, which began serialization in 1989 and continued until his death.
It is a collaboration between Koei Tecmo's Dynasty Warriors video game series and Kentaro Miura's Berserk manga series. Berserk and the Band of the Hawk was released for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in Japan on October 27, 2016, and worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in February 2017. Berserk was produced by Nippon Television and VAP, animated by Oriental Light and Magic and directed by Naohito Takahashi . It was broadcast for 25 episodes on Nippon TV from October 1997 to April 1998. Berserk was formerly licensed for English release in North America by Media Blasters, and later acquired by Discotek Media.
The company was established in 2006 as a sub-contracting studio and subsidiary of Digital Frontier that specialized in 3DCG production. In 2016, Gemba released its first production as a primary contractor, an iteration of Kentaro Miura's Berserk co-animated with 2D studio Millepensee.
