People of the aforementioned community from Lar, Uttar Pradesh in Deoria district, a known historic center of the community, carry the surname, Lari.

The records of migration of Iraqi Biradri from the presumed origin i.e. Ghazipur, U.P. India to Pakistan is an excellent work. Although arrival date in Karachi should fall somewhere after 1947, its inclusion in the records will make it a solid reference in the history of Iraqi Biradri.

Yasmeen Lari was born in 1941 in the town of Dera Ghazi Khan, [1] and spent her early years in and around Lahore in a renowned clan of Iraqi Biradari.Her father Zafarul Ahsan, an ICS officer, was working on major development projects in Lahore and other cities, through which Lari was exposed to architecture.
