Sampled music is often mellow, and is mixed with the traditional music, although more aggressive dance styles have been mixed in, reflecting influences of French, American, and other West African hip hop styles (especially Ivorian hip hop). Niger's hip hop scene grew from humble beginnings to dominate much of Niger's musical market.

Igbo rap is a Nigerian style of hip hop music that originated in the Igbo-dominated southeastern region of Nigeria and has become more popular since 2000. The style draws its main influences from Igbo traditional music and African American music. Aside other derived styles, it can be combined with highlife, R&B and afro-soul. [1]
Terry Apala was born and raised in Mushin, Lagos, Nigeria, where he was introduced to the diverse sounds of Nigerian music at an early age. [2] His musical interests were deeply influenced by the rhythmic and percussive nature of Apala music, a traditional genre associated with the Yoruba ethnic group. [3]
Abaga began his music career after he had returned to Nigeria in 2003. His first album gathered awards such as the Musician of the Year in the Modemen Awards in 2008, and Best Hip Hop Artist in the City People Entertainment Awards. [6] His first mixtape was "Pyeri Boy", and later released a sample mixtape Illegal Music in 2009.
