Carl Gustav Jung [b] was born 26 July 1875 in Kesswil, in the Swiss canton of Thurgau, as the first surviving son of Paul Achilles Jung (1842–1896) and Emilie Preiswerk (1848–1923). These journals are Jung's contemporaneous clinical ledger to his "most difficult experiment", [5] or what he later describes as "a voyage of discovery to the other pole of the world." [6] He later termed the process "mythopoetic imagination". [7]
