Perivascular epithelioid cell tumour, also known as PEComa or PEC tumour, is a family of mesenchymal tumours consisting of perivascular epithelioid cells (PECs). [1] These are rare tumours that can occur in any part of the human body. The cell type from which these tumours originate remains unknown.
Depending on the grade of the sarcoma, it is treated with surgery, [8] chemotherapy, and/or radiotherapy.Though surgery is the current standard of care for hemangiopericytomas, metastasis and tumor recurrence occur in more than 30% of patients, in particular recurrence in the pelvis and retroperitoneum [3] and metastasis in bone and lungs. A thin arborizing vascular network, a large myxoid stroma, mild to moderate cellularity with spindled to stellate cells with little or mild atypia, and the lack of nuclear pleomorphism or mitotic activity are among the histologic markers that are consistently present in cutaneous myxoma.
Undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (UPS), also termed pleomorphic myofibrosarcoma, [1] high-grade myofibroblastic sarcoma, and high-grade myofibrosarcoma, [2] is characterized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a rare, poorly differentiated neoplasm (i.e., an abnormal growth of cells that have an unclear identity and/or cell of origin). [3]
Pleomorphic adenoma (or benign mixed tumor) is a common benign salivary gland neoplasm characterised by neoplastic proliferation of epithelial (ductal) cells along with myoepithelial components, having a malignant potentiality.
