The Port Townsend Film Festival is a 501c3 non-profit, now in its 17th year. It occupies offices year-round in the historic Baker Block Building, at 211 Taylor Street, Suite 401-A, 98368. (360) 379–1333.
[1] The Olympic Music Festival is a classical music event based in Port Townsend, Washington. The festival was founded in 1984 by Alan Iglitzin. For 32 seasons, concerts were held in a barn in Quilcene, Washington. The 2016 season was presented at the Wheeler Theater at Fort Worden in partnership with the Centrum Foundation. [2]
The prize is for $1,000 and is awarded annually at Wheeler Theater, Port Townsend, Washington, in conjunction with Centrum Foundation’s annual Writers Conference. Centrum was founded as a partnership between the Washington State Arts Commission, the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, and the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission. The first executive director was Joseph F. Wheeler. Early program directors included Bill Ransom and Sam Hamill.
The Wheeler survived primarily by showing movies, as that medium emerged. [4] After one of those shows, in 1912, a fire was discovered in the space between the stage floor and the dressing rooms (then located beneath). It was extinguished with minimal permanent damage and the theater was able to show another movie the following night.
