Muirfield is a privately owned golf links which is the home of The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers. Located in Gullane , East Lothian , Scotland, overlooking the Firth of Forth , Muirfield is one of the golf courses used in rotation for The Open Championship .
In 2014, Golf Digest rated Muirfield Village as the number one golf course in Ohio, [11] and 53rd in the first-ever world's 100 greatest golf courses. [12] Golf Digest also ranked Muirfield Village 14th in the United States in 2018. [13] MVGC closed and underwent a large renovation after the 2020 Memorial Tournament.
With Jack Nicklaus, he designed Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio. [ 2 ] According to the Honolulu Advertiser , he "became one of the most respected golf course designers" in the United States. [ 1 ]
In addition to Muirfield, Gullane is the site of several other golf courses in the village and surrounding area. At the Gullane Golf Club, three eighteen-hole links courses straddle a large grassed-over volcanic plug, of which a composite course hosted both the Scottish Open and Ladies Scottish Open in 2018.

The Honourable Company of Edinburgh golfers built their own course at Muirfield and Musselburgh was removed from the rota as a result.
