Nonai (野内村, Nonai-mura) was a village located in Higashitsugaru District in central Aomori Prefecture, Japan. The former town was best known as a shukuba along the Matsumaedō and the site of an onsen town, Asamushi Onsen. It is now a neighborhood of the city, Aomori.
The station was renamed as Asamushi-Onsen Station on 1 November 1986. With the privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987, it came under the operational control of East Japan Railway Company (JR East). The section of the Tōhoku Main Line including this station was transferred to Aoimori Railway on 4 December 2010.
The location became known as Shikayu Onsen, literally "the deer's hot spring". As the amount of visitors grew, the onsen became known as Sukayu. The onsen is still a major attraction in the mountains. [20] [21] In 1929, Tohoku University established the Mount Hakkōda Plant Experimentation Laboratory near Sukayu Onsen. [22]

Asamushi-Natsudomari Prefectural Natural Park (浅虫夏泊県立自然公園, Asamushi-Natsudomari kenritsu shizen-kōen) is a Prefectural Natural Park on the north coast of Aomori Prefecture, Japan, overlooking Mutsu Bay. Established in 1953, the park spans the borders of the municipalities of Aomori and Hiranai.
