The 2022 CrossFit Games is the 16th iteration of the annual competition in the sport of CrossFit held from August 3 to August 7, 2022, in Madison, Wisconsin. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] Both Justin Medeiros and Tia-Clair Toomey repeated their 2021 win in their respective men's and women's competitions, [ 3 ] while CrossFit Mayhem Freedom won the team competition.
At the 2022 CrossFit Games, Medeiros faced strong challenges from Ricky Garard, who returned after a 4-year ban for drug use, and Roman Khrennikov, who competed in person for the first time despite qualifying for the Games 4 previous times. Garard led the first two days of competition, but faltered in some events and lost the lead to Medeiros.
During the 2022 Games she briefly held the first-place position, making her the youngest to ever lead the games as an individual. She placed 6th overall and won the "Rookie of the Year" award for her performance.
