A new firebox will be needed at the locomotive's next overhaul, which should cost around £150,000. The locomotive's owners, the Bulleid Society, have purchased new thermic syphons, as the first stage in obtaining the components for this work. A new inner firebox will also be constructed alongside that for 34059.
