Fishkill is a town in the southwestern part of Dutchess County, New York, United States.It lies approximately 60 miles (97 km) north of New York City.The population was 24,226 at the 2010 census. [1]
The village is in the eastern part of the town of Fishkill on U.S. Route 9. It is north of Interstate 84. NY 52 is the main street. It is part of the Poughkeepsie–Newburgh–Middletown, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area as well as the larger New York–Newark–Bridgeport, NY-NJ-CT-PA Combined Statistical Area.
It is bordered to the west by the village of Fishkill, to the north by Fishkill Creek, to the southeast by 904-foot (276 m) Honness Mountain, and to the northeast by New York State Route 52. Merritt Boulevard is the main thoroughfare through the community, connecting NY 52 to the northeast with U.S. Route 9 in the southern part of Fishkill village.

Downstate Correctional Facility was a maximum-security prison in the Town of Fishkill in the Hudson Valley region of New York. [1] It was located along the north side (i.e. westbound) of Interstate 84 , opening in 1979 and closing in 2022.
Beekman was the first fire company formed within Dutchess County's 8 original towns in 1937, [citation needed] following East Fishkill Fire Department was formed, followed by Pawling. In 1977, Beekman was one of the first volunteer fire departments in the area to acquire the Hurst Tool . [ 12 ]
