The Whitby Gazette was founded on 6 July 1854 by Ralph Horne, a local printer, bookseller, stationer, bookbinder, paperhanger and shipowner, who was also a member of the Whitby Literary and Philosophical Society.

The Ontario Gazette (French: La Gazette de l’Ontario) is the official publication of the Government of Ontario, Canada, first published in 1868. [1] Publications are available online, as far back as January 2000. Prior publications are found at the Archives of Ontario and depository libraries [2] and published every Saturday. [3]
The Whitby Archives were established by the Whitby Historical Society in 1968 at the historic Whitby Centennial Building. Local historian Brian Winter was named Archivist. In 2005, the Archives were moved to their current location on the second floor of the new Central Library. In 2013, Sarah Ferencz took over the role of Archivist. [8]

Roy was born to a family of five, and served as student council president at her high school. She moved to Whitby in 1993. [3] Prior to becoming mayor, Roy worked as a medical radiation therapist at the Princess Margaret Hospital from 1988 to 2005 and then at the Durham Regional Cancer Centre. [4]
