In his final appearance, Pierce briefly becomes Sheriff when Amos Tupper retires but quickly loses the job when he commits and is arrested for murder. He is well known for his recurring role as Dr. Seth Hazlitt alongside Angela Lansbury in the CBS mystery series Murder, She Wrote and his intense guest role as Commodore Matt Decker in Star Trek.
