Macomb County (/ m ə ˈ k oʊ m / mə-KOHM) is a county on the eastern shore of the U.S. state of Michigan.It is part of the Detroit metropolitan area, bordering Detroit to the north and containing many of its northern suburbs.
Frederick was situated at the location of the New Gnadenhuetten Moravian mission, which is now just west of Mt. Clemens. Following the Gnadenhütten massacre in March 1782, the Rev. David Zeisberger and his group were summoned to Detroit by the British Major De Peyster, who suspected the Moravians of favoring the Americans in the American Revolutionary War.
As the primary inland waterway into Macomb County, the Clinton River served an essential role in the early days of the Michigan Territory. Both the cities of Mt Clemens [3] and Utica [4] were founded (in part) based on their proximity to the Clinton River and farmer-settlers flocking to the territory bought up land first along its shores.
