The Kraken Regiment (Ukrainian: Спецпідрозділ "Kraken", romanized: Spetspidrozdil "Kraken") is a Ukrainian military volunteer unit, part of the spetsnaz units of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR) [3] formed in 2022 as a response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Velichko was born on January 3, 1994, in Kharkiv, Ukraine. [1] [2] He participated in Euromaidan, defending the protesters from titushky and Yanukovych's Berkut police.Members of the National Corps attribute Velichko as the author of the saying "Putin khuylo!", which gained popularity after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

In May and June 2014 Special Forces units were involved in aiding regular army and National Guard Units in the First Battle of Mariupol.
