It is bounded by Heartsease to the east, Mousehold Heath and the suburb of New Sprowston to the south, Old Catton to the west, and by the open farmland of Beeston St Andrew to the north.

The Blackwell Baronetcy, of Sprowston in the County of Norfolk, was a title in the Baronetage of Great Britain. The baronetcy was created on 16 July 1718 for Sir Lambert Blackwell, Kt of Sprowston Hall near Norwich, Norfolk. [1] Descended from the Blackwells of Surrey, he was a younger son of John Blackwell of Mortlake.
