Railway Empire is a railroad construction and management simulation game developed by Gaming Minds Studio and published by Kalypso Media. It was announced in early 2017 and released on 26 January 2018 for Linux and Microsoft Windows , 30 January 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One , [ 3 ] [ 4 ] and 14 February 2020 for Nintendo Switch.
The player needs to build railways in order to connect cities. Rails are cheap, except when demolishing houses or other objects. In each level, the player must use railway tracks to connect the different stations on the map to transfer materials between stations, having to manage increasing traffic by constructing crossroads and switches.
Unlike the other Empire Builder games, it is set in a fantasy world with dragon-based locomotives. Eden Games licensed the game from Mayfair to produce a Windows version of the game, Rail Empires: Iron Dragon.
