Other locally published newspapers are available to residents of the various islands, such as the Hawaii Tribune-Herald in Hilo and West Hawaii Today in Kailua-Kona, both on The Big Island, and The Garden Island, based in Lihue on Kauai. Oahu Publications Inc owns West Hawaii Today, Hawaii Tribune-Herald, MidWeek, and the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
In 1962, the newspaper began publication of a weekly special edition for the west side of the island, which later became West Hawaii Today, now published daily. With the demise of the Hawaii Island Journal in June 2008, Tribune-Herald owner Stephens Media Group ran all the commercial newspapers on the island including the Big Island Weekly. [3]

The Hawaii Hochi (Japanese: ハワイ報知) was a six-day-a-week Japanese-language newspaper published and sold in Hawaiʻi from 1912 to 2023. An English-language edition was also published under the name Hawaii Herald, which relaunched in July 2024 as an online newspaper called The San Times.
