  9. When I'm writing I will use just a single hyphen/minus sign with a space either side - like this - when perhaps I "should" use a dash. It's easy to type and easy to read (both as source and when rendered on the page), and I frankly can't be bothered to go find the style guide every time I type a dash to check the correct way of doing it.
