The 2009 World Wushu Championships was the 10th edition of the World Wushu Championships. [1] It was held at the Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto, Ontario, Canada from October 25 to October 29, 2009. [citation needed]

The World Wushu Championships (WWC) is an international sports championship hosted by the International Wushu Federation (IWUF) for the sports of wushu taolu and sanda (sanshou). [1] The tournament has been held biennially since 1991 and is the pinnacle event of the IWUF.
The wushu competition at the 2009 World Games was held from July 16 to July 26 at the Kaohsiung County Stadium in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] This was the first time wushu was featured as an invitational sport at the games, with later appearances being in 2013 and 2022.
Wushu has been contested at the World Games as an invitational sport in 2009 and 2013 with taolu and sanda events. [1] In the 2022 World Games , wushu returned as an invitational sport but only with taolu events.
Athletes qualify by placing in the top-eight of a standard taolu event at the prior World Wushu Championships. [2] Renditions in 2016 [ 3 ] and 2018 [ 4 ] have been held so far with the 3rd Taolu World Cup being rescheduled first for 2022, but later for 2024.
