FIBA AfroBasket 2025 will be the 31st edition of the FIBA AfroBasket, a men's basketball continental championship of Africa. The tournament will be hosted by Angola for the fourth time between 12 and 24 August. [1] Tunisia are the two-time defending champion, having won the 2017 and 2021 tournaments.
The participating teams were divided into four groups: Group A (Zones 1+2), Group B (Zones 3+4), Group C (Zone 5 + MAD + DJI) and Group D (Zone 6 + MRI + COM). The top teams in each zone qualified for the FIBA AfroBasket 2025 qualifiers, which started in February 2024.
A total of 39 national teams have appeared in at least one FIBA AfroBasket in the history of the tournament through the 2025 competition. Each successive AfroBasket has had at least one team appearing for the first time. Countries competing in their first AfroBasket are listed below by year.
