Kamloops Lake in British Columbia, Canada is situated on the Thompson River just west of Kamloops. [1] The lake is 1.6 km wide, 29 km long, and up to 152 m deep. In prehistoric time, the lake was much longer, perhaps 20x, with adjacent silt cliffs defining ancient lake bottoms 100 meters higher than present water levels.

The community is named after Ernest Brocklehurst,from Liverpool, England who lived in the area between 1896 and 1907. [ 1 ] Brocklehurst, which briefly existed as a District Municipality in its own right from 1971 until amalgamation with Kamloops in 1973, is the largest of the city's neighbourhoods, accounting for 16% of the city's population.
It is located immediately to the northwest of Downtown Kamloops across the confluence of the North and South Thompson Rivers. In 2016, North Kamloops had a population of 10,995, or 12.2% of Kamloops' total population of 90,280, and had the highest population density of any neighbourhood in the city at 2,750 people per km 2.
