[ 1 ] It is used to separate and space the warp threads, to guide the shuttle 's motion across the loom, and to push the weft threads into place.
After passing a weft thread through the warp, a reed comb is used to beat (compact) the woven weft. [10] To prepare to weave, the warp must be made.
