Dangerous Flights is a documentary-style reality television show that airs on the Discovery Channel.The show follows the pilots of C.B. Aviation as they ferry light aircraft to their new owners across distances the aircraft weren't designed to fly and often over routes that are generally considered to be dangerous by the aviation community.
The original Great Planes program was initially produced by Aviation Video International in Australia, and distributed by the Discovery Channel. When it initially aired in America, the majority of episodes were narrated by the program's Australian writer and director, Luke Swann, with some others written and narrated by John Honey and Phil Chugg.
The series was created after the airing of a one-time special called Dogfights: The Greatest Air Battles in September 2005. That program's combination of realistic-looking CGI dogfights, interviews, period documentary footage, and voice-over narration proved so successful, that the History Channel requested the production of an entire TV series, which became Dogfights. Ryan was a pioneer in capturing closeup film footage of free-falling skydivers. In 1962, the filming of the series involved the transfer of a stuntman between two airplanes, which was being filmed from a third aircraft. Due to air turbulence, the transfer failed and both aircraft touched and subsequently crashed.
