Al Dhafra Air Base (ADAB, Arabic: قاعدة الظفرة الجوية, IATA: DHF, ICAO: OMAM) is a military installation in the United Arab Emirates. The base is located approximately 20 mi (32 km) south of Abu Dhabi , and is operated by the United Arab Emirates Air Force .
The air component is named "Air base 104 Al Dhafra". Since 1 October 2008, three fighters have been based there. The base parcel granted to the French Air Force can harbour up to six aircraft. The land base has 3 Mirage 2000-5 jet fighters currently on station in addition to 57 members of the military on staff. [6]
However, in order to prevent all of the air defence and strike assets being located at a single base, a $1 billion, completely new facility has been constructed deep in the Abu Dhabi desert, [3] near the border corner with Saudi Arabia and Oman, near Al Gharbia, housing at least one Mirage 2000 unit.
