Gujarat Solar Park-1 (also called Charanka Solar Park) is a solar power plant near Charanka village in Patan district of Gujarat, India. It is spread over an area of 2,000 hectares(4,900 acres). It has installed generation capacity of about 600 MW, as 2018. More 190 MW are under installation. [1]
Solar power in Gujarat, a state of India, is a fast developing industry given that the large state is mostly arid. It was one of the first states to develop solar generation capacity in India . As June 2024, total installed solar power generation capacity of the state was 14,182 MW.
When completed, the park will generate 30 gigawatt electricity from both solar panels and wind turbines. It will spread over an area of 72,600 hectares (726 km 2) of waste land. [1] [2] When completed, it will be the biggest hybrid renewable energy park in the world. [1] The 30 GW energy could power 18 million Indian homes. [3]

The 300 MW Phase 1 of the plant went online in April 2022. [2] At that time, it was the largest single-axis solar tracker system. [3] During construction, unpredictable weather, including heavy rains, flooded the 33 KV cable trench.
The 200 MW planned solar power plant is being built by the state-owned NHPC at Gujarat Hybrid Renewable Energy Park. [1] [2] In 2023, NHPC became one of the four winning participants in securing a part of a 1200 MW solar project in the area via a tender released by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited.
