Finnerud Forest Scientific Area is a 300-acre (120 ha) forest in Oneida County, Wisconsin. The site is one a small amount of large areas in the states surrounding the Great Lakes that feature red pine trees of 100 years of age. [1] [2] It is owned by the University of Wisconsin–Madison. [3]

The Chequamegon–Nicolet National Forest (/ ʃ ɪ ˈ w ɑː m ɪ ɡ ən ˌ n ɪ k ə ˈ l eɪ /; the q is silent) [3] is a 1,530,647-acre (6,194.31 km 2) U.S. National Forest in northern Wisconsin in the United States. Due to logging in the early part of the 20th century, very little old growth forest remains.

Manson Lake is a 236 acres (96 ha) lake located in Oneida County, Wisconsin with a maximum depth of 54 ft (16 m). The lake is surrounded by forest on the south end and houses and lodges on the north end. [1] [2] On the north end also sits the ghost town of Manson, Wisconsin. U.S. Route 8 also passes Manson Lake.
