Serbian Orthodox Church did not award special decorations before 1945. With the coming to power of the communism in Yugoslavia, that is, the fall of the monarchy and the introduction of complete separation of state and church, there was a need for the introduction of special church recognitions in the form of decorations.
It depicts Theotokos (Virgin Mary) with young Jesus in the hodegetria position, and is covered with a riza. On the back of the icon is the painting of St Nicholas. [1] It is today found in the Hilandar Monastery on Mount Athos, Greece, and is the most important icon of the Serbian Orthodox Church. [1]
On the facades, especially the northern one, there are primitive drawings of people and animals, as well as old records. A severely damaged painting from the period of Turkish rule has preserved several representations: Christ Pantokrator in the vault, Assumption of the Virgin Mary on the western wall, Adoration of the archbishop in the apse.

Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Serbian: Црква Ваведење Пресвете Богородице, Crkva Vavedenje Presvete Bogorodice; Albanian: Kisha e Zojës së Bekuar) was a Serbian Orthodox Church located in the village of Belo Polje , in the municipality of Peja, Kosovo and Metohija.
The temple and its courtyard became the center of the religious, educational and cultural activities of Zemun Serbs during the 19th century. The church was significantly rebuilt in 1890, 1937, 1999, and in 2009, it received decorative lighting. The liturgy in the church was repeatedly served by patriarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
