The New England Whalers renamed themselves the Hartford Whalers in May 1979, [6] at the insistence of the Boston Bruins who objected to the team naming themselves for New England. [7] Connecticut-based graphic designer Peter Good (1942–2023) [8] was hired by the Jack Lardis Associates advertising agency to design a new logo for the team.

The Lake Lubbers website states that Hopeville Pond is a popular location for fishing, including ice fishing. The reported fish include "northern pike, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, catfish, chain pickerel, yellow perch, and bluegill". [9] The park's camp site received a positive mention in 2013 in Best Tent Camping: New England. [10]
The 200 block of East Maple Street is mostly residential, with four large Victorian homes and a large office building used by the Indiana Bell Telephone Company. The 300–800 blocks of East Maple are residential and are mostly American Four-Square in construction. The blocks also contain a few Gothic-Revival churches, [16]
