On January 12th, 2024, the Lakewood Ranch Library opened and was added as the seventh branch of Manatee County's libraries. This facility is the county's first library built in the 21st century and cost $17.6 million. It is 25,000 square feet with two stories and has Manatee County's first library drive-thru window.

A new building for the Palmetto Library was built in 1969, followed by the modern Central Public Library in downtown Bradenton in 1978. [49] The 1990s saw a period of rapid growth in Manatee County and the library system grew accordingly, with the Braden River, Rocky Bluff, and South Manatee branches opening in 1991, 1994, and 1998, respectively.
The Florida Maritime Museum is located on almost 4 acres of land that include native plant gardens, fountains, a chickee hut, historic structures, and maritime objects.
