Deering High School (DHS) is a public high school located on Stevens Avenue in Portland, Maine, United States.The school is part of the Portland Public Schools district.. It is one of the three public high schools located in Portland, the others being Portland High School and Casco Bay High School.

It is the largest and most ethnically diverse school district in Maine, with a student body made up of roughly 49% minorities. The district operates expeditionary learning schools, a vocational school, and elementary, middle, and three high schools (Casco Bay High School, Deering High School, and Portland High School).

As a kid, Ryan would accompany his father to Southern Maine practices, and field grounders. His younger brother, Regan was a draft pick of the Seattle Mariners. Flaherty graduated from Deering High School in 2005. In 2004, he led Nova Seafood to the American Legion World Series Championship, as well as winning the Telegram League batting title.
He still holds the title of Deering's career scoring leader with 1,641 points and also led the Southwestern Maine Activities Association (SMAA) as a senior with 15.7 rebounds, along with 4.2 steals per game and 4.6 assists.
