"Soon May the Wellerman Come", also known as "Wellerman" or "The Wellerman", is a folk song in ballad style [2] first published in New Zealand in the 1970s. The "wellermen" were supply ships owned by the Weller brothers , three merchant traders in the 1800s who were amongst the earliest European settlers of the Otago region of New Zealand.
In May 2021, it was announced that Evans will be publishing a collection of Sea Shanties titled The Book of Sea Shanties: Wellerman and Other Songs from the Seven Seas. The book was published on 14 October 2021 by Welbeck. It contains over 35 classic shanties and the stories around them, as well as new original shanties by Evans. [28]
The song's lyrics vary, but usually contain some variant of the question, "What shall we do with a drunken sailor, early in the morning?" In some styles of performance, each successive verse suggests a method of sobering or punishing the drunken sailor. In other styles, further questions are asked and answered about different people.

The original line up consisted of Josh Bowker, Andy Yates, Jonathan Darley and Dave Robinson. About a week later, they posted their first video on YouTube, singing "Haul Away Joe."
