Luffy is left lying helpless on the ground after Gear Fourth wears off, and Doflamingo makes his way toward his fallen opponent. However, Gatz and the Corrida Colosseum gladiators who had originally gone after Doflamingo's bounties arrive to help Luffy, who needs ten minutes to regain his Haki.

Tashigi and Smoker attack Luffy, with Smoker gaining an advantage until Luffy uses Gear Second and tells Smoker to fight him later when he is at full strength.
Luffy is brought to the palace, where Hancock is shocked to learn of Luffy's attack on the World Noble. Luffy learns that the three sisters were once slaves of the World Nobles, but were freed when Fisher Tiger attacked Mariejois, and that he eventually founded the Sunny Pirates from former slaves. Hancock then grants Luffy use of her ship.
On Level 2, Luffy, Buggy and Mr. 3 run from the beasts before encountering the Sphinx, which is the boss of the level. Mr. 3 plots to escape with Buggy to a higher level while using Luffy as bait, but his plans fail. The Sphinx destroys the floor while attacking wax duplicates of Mr. 3, causing it, Luffy, Buggy and Mr. 3 to fall to Level 3.
Luffy reels him in, but when grabbing Zephyr's prosthetic arm (a weapon made with sea prism stone known as the battle smasher), Luffy loses all his strength. Chopper attends to Zephyr's wounds. Zephyr comes too and, after learning that he is the presence of pirates, fights Luffy, Roronoa Zoro and Sanji.
