Google Wave, later known as Apache Wave, was a software framework for real-time collaborative online editing. Originally developed by Google and announced on May 28, 2009, [ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 3 ] it was renamed to Apache Wave when the project was adopted by the Apache Software Foundation as an incubator project in 2010.
The Wave Federation Protocol (formerly Google Wave Federation Protocol) is an open protocol, extension of the Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) that is used in Apache Wave. It is designed for near real-time communication between the computer supported cooperative work wave servers.
Rasmussen invented Google Wave in 2004, while the brothers were in talks with Google about selling Where 2 Technologies to Google.
