The Elmdon estate was purchased in 1760 by Birmingham banker, Abraham Spooner (ca. 1690–1788). Elmdon Hall was stated in 1780 and at the same time, he demolished the old medieval church, and constructed a new one adjacent to Elmdon Hall (demolished in 1956), to the designs of John Standbridge of Warwick.
Elmdon has sporting teams participating in local leagues. The village is a starting point for cross country running with trails of between 3 km and 30 km, some avoiding major roads. Tracks are passable on foot and bicycle between March and November, becoming waterlogged outside this range (passable but not to run on).

In 1809 the hall would be painted by John Constable, for his patron, Henry Greswolde Lewis.
