U.S. Highway 75 (US 75) is a part of the U.S. Highway System that travels from Interstate 345 (I-345) in Dallas, Texas northward to the Canadian border in Noyes, Minnesota. In the state of Texas it runs from I-345 in Dallas and heads north to the Oklahoma state line, a distance of about 75.3 miles (121.2 km).
State Highway 75 (SH 75) is a 132.63-mile-long (213.45 km) state highway in the U.S. state of Texas.It follows the former routing of U.S. Route 75 (US 75), which was supplanted by Interstate 45 south of Dallas, except in Dallas, where the former US 75 is now SH 310, and through Ferris, Palmer, Ennis, and Corsicana, where the old highway is signed as a business route of I-45.
The first freeway in Texas was a several-mile stretch of US 75 (now I-45)—The Gulf Freeway—opened to Houston traffic on October 1, 1948. The stretch of US 75 between I-30 and the Oklahoma state line has exits numbered consecutively from 1 to 75 (with occasional A and B designations), excluding 9-19.
The highway was originally part of US 75 until the "Katy Memorial Freeway" was built to bypass Denison. US 75 was transferred on to its present route and the old route was re-designated as Spur 503 on March 1, 1972. On December 21, 1994, Spur 503 was extended from SH 91 to US 69, replacing part of Business U.S. 75.
Between SH 56 and US 82, FM 1417 runs near many housing developments on the city's westside. North of US 82 the highway briefly enters Denison, running just east of North Texas Regional Airport and Grayson County College. FM 1417 reenters Denison, ending at FM 120 just east of Pottsboro.
