Putnam County is a county in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2020 census , the population was 97,668. [ 3 ] The county seat is Carmel , [ 4 ] within one of the county's six towns.

Carmel (pronounced / ˈ k ɑːr m əl /) is a town in Putnam County, New York, United States.As of the 2020 United States census, the town had a population of 33,576. [2]The Town of Carmel is on the southern border of Putnam County, abutting Westchester County, approximately 50 miles (80 km) north of New York City and 10 miles (16 km) west of Danbury, Connecticut.
