Hi My 3 and a half year old had same just before christmas was told by doc was a virus temp got to 40.9 spoke to nhs 24 a few times and after 7 days high temps and sponging down a lot, calpol etc doing not a lot, (the doc said she would be quite unwell for 7 days) went back to A & E out of hours and she was diagnosed with Scarlet Fever, infected tonsils and got anti biotics.
