My heaviest deer had a 24" neck and was taken by bow, dressed out at 208, but was shy of P&Y. At the other end of the scale, our state record that netted 193" and some change, dressed out around 175 lbs. A lot has to do with whether the deer was taken before or after the rut. A 175 lb, 140 class deer is a good deer for this area.
The past two seasons my whitetail had slippage. One deer was shot and hung in a tree for about a day in cold temperature and it had a lot of slippage. The second one was shot and brought to the processor in less than 3 hours. This one had a dime size of slippage. Why is this happening? I did bring both deer on a cargo rack for an hour drive.
ThaT DEER FIELD DREESED 232 LBS. i HAVE SEEN MANY IN kANSAS HIT THE 260-300 LBS RANGE. hERE IN NORTH aRKANSAS IF THE DEER IS AN HONEST 150 ITS HUGE, BUT DID SEE A 197 FIELD DREESED LAST YEAR. AT FIRST GLANCE i THOUGHT THE DEER WAS FROM kANSAS OR iOWA. It take food, size due to cold weather and age to make a big bodied deer.
The meat measurement lets me know what size the neck was when he was killed. The tanned measurement tells me if I can maybe use a little bit larger form. It should always come back to the meat measurement at least. If you are trying to get the "deer on steroid look" then try to enhance the muscle details.

I have mounted 5 lifesize deer in the last year...2 were dorsal cut, 3 were ventral cut. I failed to hide the seams on both dorsal cut deer to MY satisfaction. The dorsal cuts certainly go together easier, but in the end, the ventral cut deer appeared flawless from a seam standpoint. On a ventral cut deer, cut your form into sections.
These McKenzie Whitetail Earbutts make easy work of this complicated procedure. Available in three poses—ears forward (alert), ears half-back, and ears back—they match perfectly with the corresponding size of McKenzie Whitetail Ears, virtually snapping into place in perfect position.
