The Celebration was started in 1972, not long after the formation of the Racking Horse Breeders' Association of America (RHBAA). [1] Although most of the organizers were from Birmingham it was decided to hold the show in Priceville, which is in Morgan County, northern Alabama, because the horse center there was the best in the state at the time.
The World Celebration is the larger of the two, with over 170 classes and approximately 1,000 horses, and is the final show of each season. Kenny Ailshie (November 27, 1948 – August 22, 2008) was an American horse trainer who specialized in Racking Horses. Ailshie won the World Grand Championship in the Racking Horse World Celebration 6 times, more than any other trainer. Alshie's son Keith and daughter Buffy have also won numerous Championships.
