Ma'an News Agency (MNA; Arabic: وكالة معا الإخبارية) is a large wire service created in 2005 in the Palestinian territories. [1] [2] It is part of the Ma'an Network, a non-governmental organization media network created in 2002 [1] in the Palestinian territories among independent journalists throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
According to APN, their mission is to facilitate associations between Arab journalists and editors in order to promote a free press. On a commercial level, the network supports newspapers to grow and expand through practical advice. The APN website contains news about the Arab world and on developments therein relating to freedom of the press.

Ma'an was founded by the Minaeans (known as "Ma'in" in Arabic), an ancient Arab people based in Yemen, between the 2nd and 4th century BCE. [2] The site was located on a major trade route and was settled by Minaean traders and merchants. [3] Local tradition has it that the city was named after "Ma'an", the son of Lot. [4]
