The Tarim mummies are a series of mummies discovered in the Tarim Basin in present-day Xinjiang, China, which date from 1800 BCE to the first centuries BCE, [1] [2] [3] with a new group of individuals recently dated to between c. 2100 and 1700 BCE.
The mummy was found on April 1, 1980, in the Tiebanhe cemetery (铁板河墓) near Loulan, on the Silk Road in the Xinjiang, by Chinese archaeologist Mu Shunying (穆舜英) and members of the Archaeological Institute of the Xinjiang Academy of Social Sciences.
