Sidney is a city in and the county seat of Richland County, Montana, United States, [4] less than 10 mi (16 km) west of the North Dakota border. The population was 6,346 at the 2020 census . [ 3 ] The city lies along the Yellowstone River .
It was also known as Sidney Lutheran Brethren Church. The building was designed by James W. Anderson, the first reverend of the church, and built from milled lumber brought from Mondak, Montana, a railway town. It has an "engaged 'norman tower'" which is "an infrequent feature used in this otherwise distinctive, popular church design". [2]

The Sidney Herald was founded in 1908. [3] Wick Communications bought the Richland County Leader from Russ Wells in 1988 and merged it with the Sidney Herald to form the Sidney Herald-Leader. [4] In April 2024, the newspaper announced it cease publishing on Wednesdays and moving forward will only publish one day a week on Saturdays. [5]

A new, larger hospital built in 1908 has since been demolished. The 1919 Service Building has a chapel, and housed the employees of the home. A cemetery was established in 1897. [5] A new housing facility for veterans, the Montana Veterans' Home, was opened by Montana Governor Forrest H. Anderson at an official dedication ceremony in 1970. [6]
Savage is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Richland County, Montana, United States. Savage is located on the Yellowstone River and Montana Highway 16, 20 miles (32 km) south-southwest of Sidney. Savage was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2010 census. [3]
