Ray Bowen Newman (August 11, 1922 – February 8, 2017) was an American football coach and scout. He served as the head football coach at Bakersfield College in Bakersfield, California from 1959 to 1966, compiling a record of 65–11–1.
A star high school athlete, Jauch played college football at the University of Iowa. He was a running back for the national champion 1958 Iowa Hawkeyes, leading the nation in yards per carry. He played in the 1959 Rose Bowl against California.

Meador graduated from Russellville High School (RHS) in 1955 as an All-Region and All-State football player. He was a three-sport letterman in football, basketball, and track at RHS, and the Cyclones won the Region 3AA football championship in 1954. [1] He is a member of the RHS Athletic Hall of Fame. [2]
The 1959 Iowa Hawkeyes football team represented the University of Iowa in the 1959 Big Ten Conference football season. The team was coached by Forest Evashevski and captained by Don Norton and Ray Jauch. Iowa finished with a 5–4 record, losing more games this season than in the previous three seasons combined (24–3–2).
Ray stayed as the head coach of Lowell High School until 1976, where he brought Lowell High to three national football championship playoffs, and became known as one of the America's greatest high school football coaches. [8] In his 28-year career, he coached 10 teams to undefeated seasons. [9]
