National University School of Law was an American law school founded in Washington, D.C. in 1869. [1] Originally intended as part of a larger design for a national university in the United States , the school was the principal component of National University during its existence.
Public Law 104-329 [3] (October 20, 1996) created a Memorial Maintenance Fund, managed by the United States Secretary of the Interior and funded in part by the sale of 500,000 National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Commemorative Silver Dollars issued by the U.S. Mint. The memorial is adjacent to the National Law Enforcement Museum.

The design was completed in 1991 but not completed for several years, pending funding and other hurdles. In 2000, the United States Congress authorized the establishment of the National Law Enforcement Museum, to tell the story of law enforcement in the United States. Stories of the fallen will be featured in the Museum's "Hall of Remembrance."
