Porches Pottery is a producer of hand-painted pottery in the town of Porches, in the Algarve region of Portugal. The pottery style was founded in 1968 by artists Patrick Swift and Lima de Freitas , in order to revive a traditional Algarve pottery industry.
Over 60 years, Le Tallec has maintained traditional hand-painted porcelain. He preserved and revisited about 375 original and historical patterns signed by the Le Tallec's marks . [ 5 ] Atelier Le Tallec was inducted as a member of the Grands Ateliers de France (the fifty best studios in France) in 2000.
João Edmundo Lemos Carqueijeiro is a Portuguese plastic artist.He was born in Lobito, Angola on 25 February 1954.. Until he was twenty years old he lived in Lourenço Marques (now Maputo), Mozambique and in 1974, after the Carnation revolution, he went to Porto, Portugal.
The museum collection features decorative ceramic tiles or azulejos from the second half of the 15th century to the present day. Besides tiles, it includes ceramics, porcelain and faience from the 19th to the 20th century. Its permanent exhibition starts with a display of the materials and techniques used for manufacturing tiles.
