The Jesus Seminar determined Mark 2:23–28, Matt 12:1–8, Luke 6:1–5 to be "pink" acts of Jesus, that is "a close approximation of what Jesus did" and call them "Sabbath observance." [citation needed] Jesus points out to them a story about David found in 1 Samuel 21.

The intertextual production of the Gospel of Mark is the viewpoint that there are identifiable textual relationships such that any allusion or quotation from another text forms an integral part of the Markan text, even when it seems to be out of context.
Mark is the only gospel with the combination of verses in Mark 4:24–25: the other gospels split them up, Mark 4:24 being found in Luke 6:38 and Matthew 7:2, Mark 4:25 in Matthew 13:12 and Matthew 25:29, Luke 8:18 and Luke 19:26.
Over three-quarters of Mark's content is found in both Matthew and Luke, and 97% of Mark is found in at least one of the other two synoptic gospels.
